Name |
Remy (Joseph Roy or Ray) CHARTIER |
- When Joseph Roy Chartier registered for the WWI draft on 5 Jun 1917, he was single and living at 716 Madison in Seattle. It seems like he was a riveter at the Skinner & Eddy Ship Yard in Seattle. He said he provided partial support for his mother. When the 1920 census was taken, this family was living on 12th Avenue in Seattle. Roy was a boilermaker at a ship yard. Roy and Florence could not be found in the 1930 census, but there is a Dallas R. Chartier (indexed as Castin at ancestry.com) living as an adopted son in the home of Edward and Lilias Graham in the Burien Precinct (King), Washington. There is also a Lavern P. Castin, age 10, but it looks more like Lavern C. Chartier. It looks like Dallas adopted his step parents name whereas, Laverne did not. In the SSDI there is a Dallas R. Graham who was born 8 Nov 1918 which matches the birth record for Dallas Chartier. And, Laverne C. Chartier can be found in both the SSDI and the Washington Death Index at ancestry.com
