Mary’s parents were born in Ireland. When the 1920 census was taken, John, Sr. and John, Jr. were living in the home of Nettie Celbrois. John, Sr. was a widower and John, Jr. was single. Also, in this household was John J. Neilan, age 44, who was probably Mary’s brother. John, Sr. was still a shoemaker and John, Jr. was a molder in a foundry. When the 1930 census was taken, John, Sr. and Henry were both widowers and sharing a household in Worcester. Henry was an electrician and John Sr. was still working in a shoe shop.
