George W. CHARTIER |
- George Chartier was a farmer in Wales Township (St-Clair), Michigan which is where he and his family were living when the 1900 and 1910 censuses were taken. According to the book “The History of St. Clair County” which was published in 1912, George inherited his father’s farm. The farm consisted of 150 acres of arable land which George used in general farming and stock raising. George attended the public schools of Memphis. Politically he was a Republican, and he served a number of years as a member of the school board. Fraternally, he was a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Order of Masons and of the Gleaners.
