She also said she was the mother of 5 children with 4 of them living which probabably means that Joseph-Ovid-Arthur Chartier and Joseph-Ovid Chartier are the same person. When the 1910 census was taken, this family was living in Bedford Township (Hillsborough), NH. Here the name is indexed as “Ovid Marter”. Ovid was still a carpenter; Dianna was a carder in a cotton mill; and Ledi was a mill hand in a cotton mill. When the 1920 census was taken, this family was living in Henniker (Merrimack), NH. The name is indexed “Oved Carter”. Oved was a farmer. Also in the household was Arthur O. Carter and his wife “Eva”. Arthur was “working out”. Laura R. Carter was also in the household. When the 1930 census was taken, it appears that Roseanna had died and Ovide remarried because there is an Ovide Carter, age 57 living with an Adelia ___ in Manchester (Hillsborough), NH when the 1930 census was taken. Ovide was a real estate agent. What is interesting is that the name is Carter in the census records, but Chartier in the church records.
