- When Edmund Joseph Chartier registered for the WWI draft, he was living at 9 Higate in Allston (Suffolk), Mass. He was a locomotive foreman for the B&A Railroad at the Beacon Park Yard in Allston. He said he was married and had one child. When the 1920 census was taken, Edmund J. Chartier was living on a United States Freight Boat, Covedale in Norfolk, Virginia. He was a freight boat engineer. In this census Edmund says he is single which may mean his wife died. . Edmund G. Chartier’s birth record says his father is a teamster and that his mother, Lucy, was born in Clayton, Mass.
