News: Welcome to our new site! All data from the old site (including photos) have now been uploaded (whew!)

I will now begin granting limited access to users that have requested it, however all edits will be reviewed by either Vernon CHARTIER or myself for the time being until we're sure the user knows how the new system works (and he and I are still learning it too!).

NOTE: The maps feature does not seem to work well on GOOGLE Chrome, so use the internet browser bundled with Windows.

    • Name Benjamin (Barney) CHARTIER
      • This family could not be found in the 1900 census. When the 1910 census was taken, this family was living at 626 Robertson St. in Marine (St Clair), Michigan. Benjamin Chartier was a laborer in a steel ship yard. Etta was a printer in Photograph Galley. In this census “Christa Chartier” said she was the mother of 8 children with 5 of them living. Christa also said she immigrated in 1879. When the 1920 census was taken, Etta was the head of a family that included her brothers and sisters. They were living at 569 Elizabeth St. in Marine City. This would indicate that both Banjamin and Christina died before this census was taken, and the children were on their own. According to this census, however, none of them had an occupation. When the 1930 census was taken, Etta was now married to Leo J. Britz, and living with her husband and two of her sisters, Lorene and Alice, at 576 South Main St. in Marine City. It appears that Harold was a construction laborer in Detroit where he was a boarder in the home of David Cullen? At 20189 Hull St. in Detroit. Neither Les or Francis Chartier could be found in the 1930 census.
