- Oscar died of a heart attack will on a fishing trip. When Oscar registered for the WWI draft, he was single and living in Knowlton, Wisconsin. He was a well driller for Kronborn Brothers in Knowlton. Oscar Sharkey was a soldier in World War I. On May 19, 1919 his rank was Private First Class. He was in the 2nd Army , stationed in France where he met Marie-Louise Scribaux. They were married in France; returned to the U.S. after the war. As a married couple, they lived all of their lives in Pittsburgh, Penna. except for one year in Wisconsin. As Oscar Homer Sharkey, Oscar registered for the WWII draft. He was living at 1604 Barbadoes Ave. in Brookline (Allegheny), Pennsylvania. He worked for the Cunningham Co. on Carson St. in Pittsburgh. Louise made at least one trip back to France as she is found arriving in New York Harbor on S.S. Paris from Le Havre, France on 28 Jun 1930. When the 1930 census was taken, this family was living at 386 Augusta St. in Pittsburgh. Oscar was a cement finisher for a builder.
