News: Welcome to our new site! All data from the old site (including photos) have now been uploaded (whew!)

I will now begin granting limited access to users that have requested it, however all edits will be reviewed by either Vernon CHARTIER or myself for the time being until we're sure the user knows how the new system works (and he and I are still learning it too!).

NOTE: The maps feature does not seem to work well on GOOGLE Chrome, so use the internet browser bundled with Windows.

    • Name Louis CHARTIER
      • When the 1900 census was taken, Della Shorkey was a boarder in the home of John and Margaret Barbeau. Della and Margaret were probably sisters since they were both born in Ohio, their fathers were born in Canada and their mothers were born in Ireland. Della says she has been married for one year even though Louis is not in the household. She also says she is the mother of one child with that child living, but there is no child in the household. When the 1910 census was taken, Della, Elsie and James Shorkey are living Marquette City at 115 Hampton St. and like in the 1900 census Louis is not in the household. Della says she is married; has been married for 11 years; and is the mother of 2 children with both of them living. Also in the household was Margueritta Hutte who says she is married (2nd marriage). Both Della and Margueritta are washerwomen, house. So far, Louis has not been found in either the 1900 or 1910 censues. However, there is a Louis (Lovis) Shorkia in Ely (Marquette), Michigan when the 1900 census was taken. The census record says he is single, 50 years old and born in Cananda in March 1850. Della’s surname, Dasept, came from James Joseph Chartier’s application for an account number for Social Security.
