- When the 1900 census was taken, Jerry Charter and his family were living in Norway (Dickinson), Michigan. Jerry was a teamster. In this census Jerry said he immigrated in 1870 whereas Delia said she immigrated in 1879. Delia also said she was the mother of six children with all six of them living. When the 1910 census was taken, Jerry Startier and his family were living in Portage (Houghton), Michigan. Jerry and Fred were laborers in a mine. In the 1910 census Delia said she was the mother of 7 children with all 7 of them living; however, only the last 5 are in the household in 1910. When the 1920 census was taken, Jerry Christin and his family were still living in Portage. Jerry was a day keeper in a copper mine. Living nearby were his two daughters, Agnes Glavin and Isabella. Agnes was widowed and Isabella was living with Agnes. Agnes was a postmistress in Dodgeville and Isabella was also a postmistress. When the 1930 census was taken, Jerry and Delia Chartier were living in River Rouge (Wayne), Michigan. What is interesting about where they lived is that two doors away on the same street was the family of Harvey and Louis Sharkey. Harvey Sharkey is descended from Guillaume Chartier, and one has to wonder if Jerry and Harvey ever had any discussions about their Chartier ancestries.
