News: Welcome to our new site! All data from the old site (including photos) have now been uploaded (whew!)

I will now begin granting limited access to users that have requested it, however all edits will be reviewed by either Vernon CHARTIER or myself for the time being until we're sure the user knows how the new system works (and he and I are still learning it too!).

NOTE: The maps feature does not seem to work well on GOOGLE Chrome, so use the internet browser bundled with Windows.

    Moise (Moses) CHARTIER

    Male 1850 -

Personal Information    |    Event Map    |    All    |    PDF

    • Name Moise (Moses) CHARTIER
      • The children shown on this page came from the 1880 Ellsworth County, Kansas Census. In this census Moise Chartier is called Moses Sharkey. Also shown in this census are the families of John Sharkey (Jean-Baptiste Chartier), Henry Sharkey (Henry Chartier), and Benjamin Sharkey. It is very likely that Moise and Martha had more children; but at this time nothing more is known about them. Even though “Moses” is called Sharkey in this census, the family retained the “Chartier” name as shown in the 1920 and 1930 censuses for Kansas City, Missouri. In the Kansas, Missouri directories for 1889-91, Moses was a carpenter and had two residences listed. These were 2407 Locust and 810 Howard. When the 1900 census was taken, Moses, Louise and George were living at 21 24th St. in Kansas City. Moise was a carpenter and George was a day laborer. It is difficult to read, but Louis M. Chartier seems to have had 6 children with either 2 or 3 of them living. In the 1910 census the name is indexed as “Chester”. Moses and Lucy Chester were living in Kansas City (Jackson), Missouri. Moses was a house carpenter. In this census Lucy says she is the mother of 4 children with three of them living.
