News: Welcome to our new site! All data from the old site (including photos) have now been uploaded (whew!)

I will now begin granting limited access to users that have requested it, however all edits will be reviewed by either Vernon CHARTIER or myself for the time being until we're sure the user knows how the new system works (and he and I are still learning it too!).

NOTE: The maps feature does not seem to work well on GOOGLE Chrome, so use the internet browser bundled with Windows.

    • Name Rosalie CHARTIER
      • When the 1850 census was taken, this family was living in Bourbonnais (Will), Illinois. Paul was a farmer. Living in the next household was the family of Louis Chartier, Rosalie’s brother. The name is indexed as Champonier. Also in this household were two children indexed as Oliver Pender, age 5 and Josephine Pender, age 4. They were both born in New York. Also, in this household were John B. and Mary Champeniss. John B. is 70 years old and born in France. Mary is 53 years old and born in Canada. They are probably Paul’s parents. When the 1855 Illinoise census was taken, Paul’s family consisted of 1 male between 30 and 40; 1 male between 50 and 60; and 1 female between 40 and 40. This might indicate that Rosalie had died, and Paul was heading up a family that included his father and mother. When the 1860 census was taken, J.B. and Mary “Chambenn” were still living in Bourbonnais, but Rosalie and Paul can not be found. In the J.B. Chambenn household were two children, 15 and 14 years old who were born in Canada. Their names were Antoni and Josephine Ferrin which are probably the same children found in the 1860 census. When the 1860 census was taken, there is a Paul and Jane “Champnois” living in Wahkonsa, Webster, Iowa. He is 36 and she is 32. Both of them were born in Canada. The age is correct for Paul. Is Jane a second wife? There are no children in the household.
