- Rosetta was baptized as Chartier. Since Rosetta was Protestant and Louis was Catholic, they had to obtain permission from Rome in order for “Rose Chartier” to marry Louis. This was granted on 17 Oct 1849. The marriage is recorded at St-Pie-de-Bagot (Diocese de St-Hyacinthe); but it took place in the home of Rosetta’s parents. When the 1881 census was taken, this family was living in St-Paul-d’Abbotsford (Rouville). Louis was a farmer; however, he was a carpenter when he married Rosetta.
