News: Welcome to our new site! All data from the old site (including photos) have now been uploaded (whew!)

I will now begin granting limited access to users that have requested it, however all edits will be reviewed by either Vernon CHARTIER or myself for the time being until we're sure the user knows how the new system works (and he and I are still learning it too!).

NOTE: The maps feature does not seem to work well on GOOGLE Chrome, so use the internet browser bundled with Windows.

    • Name Francois CHARTIER-SHARKEY
      • This connection is made with reservations. It is based upon the fact that the family lived in the same area as the Armand Chartier family and that members of the Armand Chartier family were witnesses to marriages of members of this family. When the 1851 Canadian census was taken, this family was living in St Paul DAbbotsford (St. Hyacinthe County), Canada East (Quebec). Francois was a farmer. In this census Francois says he was born in Canada, but a baptismal record has not been found for him. He may have been born and baptized in Vermont. In the 1851 census William and Daniel were laborers. Francois and Margaret said their religion was Universalist whereas William and Daniel said their religion was Episcopalian. When the 1871 census was taken, Francois and Marguerite Chartier were living in Abbotsford (Rouville), Quebec. Francois said his religion was “Unpartiale” and Marguerite said her religion was Anglicane. The next household on this census page has the family of Jerome and Theoday Fortier. Francois was a “rentier”.
