      Name:
      As a young man, Ernest P. Chartier was a member of the Montreal police force. According to family members, he eventually moved to Western Canada where he joined the Northwest Mounted Police (RCMP). However, when he registered for the WWI draft on 23 May 1917, he was living in Iroquois Falls, Ontario. He was a widower and a lumber dealer. He said his next-of-kin was his mother, Ellemire Chartier who lived in St Ciprien (Napierville), Quebec.

      When the 1901 census was taken, this family was living in GrandMere Village (Champlain), Quebec. Joseph was a journalier. According to family members, Joseph was a carpenter and he moved his family to Abitibi where he lived for several years and then ended his life in Montreal. Joseph and Elmire had 12 children.       Name:
      Magloire Chartier was an inn-keeper in the District of Quebec City. He previously resided at St-Maurcie and Trois-Rivieres and died close to 94 years at St-Jean (Orleans Island). When the 1881 Canadian census was taken, the family of Joseph and Eugenie Chartier were living in Ste-Luc (Champlain), Quebec. Joseph was a cultivateur.
